DANCE CARIBE PERFORMING COMPANY Preserving through dance, the cultural diversity of the Caribbean

For immediate Press Release May 26th, 2011 12th Annual Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance FestivalDance Caribe Performing Company and Artistic Director Martin Scott-Pascall will be hosting the 12th Annual Caribbean Junior Folklore Dance Festival on Saturday May 28th, 2011 at Senator O'Connor College School (Catholic Secondary School) 60 Rowena Drive, North York, Ontario M3A 3R2Once again groups, schools, studios, individuals and independent dancers in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions will be given the chance to showcase their talents and cultural heritage. This is also an excellent opportunity for choreographers to display their creativity. The registration deadline is Friday, May 20th, 2011 for dancers under the age of 21.The competition category segments for 12 & under, 13 to 15 and the Under 21 age groups will be held from 1:00 p.m. The admission prices for the show are $10 for children (12 and under) and Adult prices are $15. The awards ceremony “will be held at a later date (to be advised). This friendly dance competition not only promotes and encourages teenagers and young dancers to explore their performing talent but it also highlights potential talent within the community. More importantly, young dancers are able to direct their energy in a positive and meaningful way. The Dance Festival also provides a medium for choreographers, producers, costume designers and dancers to continue working for excellence. Finally, it fosters an understanding and cooperation among different Caribbean and Canadian performing groups and it brings together our nation’s diverse cultures in peace and unity under one umbrella.
